The Google Cloud Professional Cloud Developer certification validates the ability to build scalable, highly available applications using Google-recommended tools and best practices. It targets developers with hands-on experience deploying cloud-native applications on Google Cloud.
The exam covers five areas: Designing Highly Scalable, Available, and Reliable Cloud-Native Applications (32%), Building and Testing Applications (27%), Deploying Applications (14%), Integrating Google Cloud Services (18%), and Managing Application Performance Monitoring (9%). Key services include Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, App Engine, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Spanner, Firestore, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Endpoints and Apigee for API management, and Cloud Trace, Profiler, and Debugger for observability.
The Professional Cloud Developer exam requires strong hands-on experience with GCP developer tools and APIs, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and modern application design patterns (microservices, event-driven, serverless). It is valid for 2 years and is one of the top credentials for backend developers and full-stack engineers working in GCP environments.
