The Google Cloud Generative AI Leader certification was introduced to address the rapid growth of generative AI in enterprise applications. It validates foundational knowledge of generative AI concepts, how generative AI models work, and how Google Cloud's AI products and platforms — particularly Gemini and Vertex AI — can be used to drive business value.
The exam covers topics including the fundamentals of large language models (LLMs) and foundation models, prompt engineering concepts, the Gemini family of models (Gemini Ultra, Pro, Nano), Vertex AI platform capabilities, Google's AI principles and responsible AI practices, and practical use cases for generative AI in business contexts such as content creation, code generation, and conversational AI.
Like the Cloud Digital Leader, this certification is accessible to non-technical audiences and is designed for business professionals, product managers, and leaders who want to credibly discuss and evaluate generative AI solutions. The exam has approximately 50 questions in 90 minutes and is valid for 3 years. It pairs naturally with the Cloud Digital Leader for a complete foundational Google Cloud credential.
