Retired AWS cert that validated deploying, managing, and operating workloads on AWS. Retired September 2025. Replaced by the CloudOps Engineer Associate path.
The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate (SOA-C02) was designed for systems administrators and operations roles managing AWS infrastructure. It validated the ability to deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on the AWS platform.
The exam covered six domains: Monitoring, Logging, and Remediation (20%), Reliability and Business Continuity (16%), Deployment, Provisioning, and Automation (18%), Security and Compliance (16%), Networking and Content Delivery (18%), and Cost and Performance Optimization (12%). Core skills included EC2 fleet management, Auto Scaling, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, VPC networking, Route 53, and IAM.
This certification was retired on September 29, 2025. AWS is transitioning this track toward the AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer certification. If you held the SOA-C02 credential, it remains valid until its three-year expiry date.
