The AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) was launched in 2024 to address the growing demand for AI literacy across all roles. It validates foundational knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI concepts, with a focus on AWS AI and ML services such as Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Rekognition, Comprehend, and Lex.
The exam covers five domains: Fundamentals of AI and ML (20%), Fundamentals of Generative AI (24%), Applications of Foundation Models (28%), Guidelines for Responsible AI (14%), and Security, Compliance, and Governance for AI Solutions (14%). It is designed for professionals who work alongside AI/ML teams or need to communicate about AI use cases — not for engineers who build models.
This certification pairs naturally with the Cloud Practitioner and is a strong signal for roles in product management, consulting, sales engineering, or any domain where understanding AI capabilities on AWS is an advantage. The exam takes 90 minutes with 65 questions and requires a passing score of 700/1000.
Business analysts, product managers, sales engineers, and technical professionals who work with AI/ML teams but do not build models themselves.
Prerequisites: No formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic cloud concepts recommended.
