Fundamentals DP-900
Entry-level Azure cert covering core data concepts and Azure data services including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
The Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) validates foundational knowledge of core data concepts and how they are implemented using Microsoft Azure data services. It is designed for candidates beginning to work with data in the cloud and for non-technical roles who want to understand data concepts in an Azure context.
The exam covers three main areas: Describe Core Data Concepts (25–30%), Identify Considerations for Relational Data on Azure (20–25%), Describe Considerations for Working with Non-Relational Data on Azure (15–20%), and Describe an Analytics Workload on Azure (25–30%). Services covered include Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric fundamentals.
The DP-900 exam has approximately 40–60 questions in 45 minutes with a passing score of 700. It does not expire and is an excellent stepping stone toward DP-300 (Database Administrator) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer) for those pursuing Azure data careers.
Data professionals new to Azure, business analysts, database administrators starting their cloud journey, and non-technical stakeholders.
Prerequisites: No prerequisites. Basic familiarity with relational databases is helpful but not required.
