Associate DP-300
Azure cert for DBAs managing SQL Server and Azure SQL databases. Covers high availability, performance tuning, security, and backup/restore in Azure.
The Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) validates the skills required to administer SQL Server and Azure SQL database environments in the cloud and on hybrid infrastructures. It targets database administrators responsible for managing the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid SQL workloads.
The exam covers five domains: Plan and Implement Data Platform Resources (15–20%), Implement a Secure Environment (15–20%), Monitor and Optimize Operational Resources (15–20%), Optimize Query Performance (5–10%), Perform Automation of Tasks (10–15%), and Plan and Implement a High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) Environment (15–20%). Key services include Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Edge, Azure Blob Storage for backup, and Azure Monitor and Intelligent Query Insights for performance tuning.
The DP-300 is the right certification for SQL Server DBAs who are adding cloud skills or moving to Azure. It demonstrates an ability to manage both classic SQL workloads and cloud-native Azure SQL services, making it valuable in organizations running hybrid database environments.
