The Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) validates the ability to design and implement AI solutions using Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI Service, and Azure AI Search. It targets developers and AI engineers who build intelligent applications integrating natural language processing, computer vision, speech, search, and generative AI capabilities.
The exam covers five domains: Plan and Manage an Azure AI Solution (15–20%), Implement Content Moderation Solutions (10–15%), Implement Computer Vision Solutions (15–20%), Implement Natural Language Processing Solutions (30–35%), and Implement Knowledge Mining and Document Intelligence Solutions (10–15%). Key services include Azure AI Services (Vision, Language, Speech, Translator, Face), Azure OpenAI Service (GPT-4, DALL-E, embeddings), Azure AI Search, Azure Document Intelligence, and Azure AI Content Safety.
Microsoft has announced AI-102 will retire on June 30, 2026. An updated AI Engineer certification path is expected to follow the evolution of Azure AI Services and Azure OpenAI capabilities. Candidates building AI-powered applications on Azure should stay current with Microsoft Learn announcements for the replacement exam.
